Back to Basics

Now more than ever, we need to get back to basics.
The first steps in building community is starting at home and then applying these steps to your community and then beyond.

The broken windows theory is a criminological theory that states that visible signs of crimeanti-social behavior, and civil disorder create an urban environment that encourages further crime and disorder, including serious crimes.[1] The theory suggests that policing methods that target minor crimes, such as vandalismloiteringpublic drinkingjaywalking and fare evasion, help to create an atmosphere of order and lawfulness.
  1. I know you have heard this before, but make your bed every day!
  2. Make sure you budget each week for food and shop for it. Stop ordering out or eating fast food. Use this one day a week to cheat.
  3. Clean your house every morning or night. Even if it's just one thing. Start there. Wash the dishes, vacuum, throw out or donate some things that you don't use and show your kids how to do this as well.
  4. Drink 8 glasses of water a day.
  5. Exercise.
  6. Keep a list of your shopping expenses every week. At the end of the month see how you spend on things you don't need.
  7. Make a gratitude list.
  8. Repeat.
